My name is John Kauppila and I'm a luthier. I was born in Los Alamos, New Mexico in 1992. I grew up with a strong appreciation for guitar and guitar music and decided to pursue guitar making as a profession. In 2013, I went to the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in Phoenix. After graduating, I worked as an apprentice luthier under Ryan Elewaut at Custom Sound Instruments in Flagstaff, Arizona. I've learned a great deal about my craft, and now I've moved back to New Mexico, I've opened my own luthiers shop with the intention of applying all that I've learned here, and I hope to learn so much more along the way.
